CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk


About the Course

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to support and protect children and young people who are at risk of harm. This work occurs within legislative and policy frameworks and carries a duty of care responsibility.

This unit is part of the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early childhood Education and Care and the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. This training helps to maintain compliance with regulation 84 of the National Regulations for the approved provider of an education and care service who are responsible to ensure that the nominated supervisor and staff members at the service who work with children are advised of the existence and application of the current child protection law and any obligations that they may have under that law.


Purpose

This unit applies to workers in a range of job roles providing services to children and young people including in community services and health contexts.


Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification specified within the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package.

Noting this, Australian Professional Training Academy require persons who undertake this course to:

- Be aged 18 years or over.

- Hold a current NSW Working with Children check.

- Have suitable language, literacy and numeracy skills.


Duration

5 hours face to face


Assessments

Theory questions consisting of short answer and true/false questions, ethical scenarios, practical tasks.


Qualification Requirements

The learner must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks of this unit, manage tasks and contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has completed the tasks in line with regulations.

- Learners will receive a Statement of Attainment after successfully completing the course.
- Industry standards require this course CHCPRT001 be refreshed.
